Work Experience

Wayzata Transition is an excellent continuing education option for qualifying students who live in our community. All of our students have completed four years at Wayzata High School and have yet to receive their high school diplomas. We are preparing them to become confident, employed adults who live as independently as possible and contribute to the vitality of our community.

Students Learn Best By Applying Skills to Real-life Situations

Employers throughout the community partner with us to provide our sudents with employment opportunities. Students gain valuable employment skills and experience while businesses gain dedicated, well-trained employees. The Transition Work Experience program matches our students' skills and interests to business needs within the community. The goal is to create meaningful opportunities for students to increase their skills and abilities, while making connections within their community.

Work experience provides on-the-job training, job shadowing, internships, and collaboration opportunities with community partners, such as Hennepin County Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS). This partnership increases student training opportunities and helps support a smooth transition into employment in adulthood.

  • In-House Employment Skills Training - Creating opportunities for students to build their skills towards various community employment options.

  • Volunteering within our Community - Creating partnerships in the community to increase a student’s employability skills.

  • Independent Employment –Working in the community to maintain competitive integrated employment.
