Wayzata Cafés is National Leader in School Nutrition

All across the country, school nutrition programs are facing enormous challenges. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools to close in March 2020, these essential programs were heavily impacted and they are still dealing with staffing shortages, supply chain disruptions, and overall financial sustainability. Despite these on-going challenges, a recent program review shows that Wayzata Cafés, which serves nearly 9,000 students meals each day, stands out as a national leader in the field of school nutrition. 

Principal of the year

Tyler Shepard, associate principal at Wayzata High School, has been named this year’s recipient of the Minnesota Assistant Principal of the Year Award by the Minnesota Association of Secondary Principals (MASSP). Shepard has served as associate principal at WHS for the past six years and he has been a school administrator for seven years.

Register for Trojan Tots Preschool Today!

Trojan Tots preschool is offered through Wayzata High School's Child Psychology II course. The unique preschool program is open to all community preschoolers who are 2.5 to 5 years old and potty-trained. WPS high school students plan and present daily learning activities in the areas of science, math, art, music, language development and movement. 

WPS Teachers Selected as Candidates for 2023 Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Wayzata Public Schools’ teachers Polly Laugen and Lauren Sobota-Paxton for being selected as candidates for the 2023 Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Both candidates teach at Central Middle School: Laugen teaches 6th grade science and Sobota-Paxton teaches 7th grade math.
