Our Mission

Greenwood PTA’s mission is to support and advocate for our children by partnering with staff and families to create a high-quality learning environment where students can excel and feel confident in themselves. We will accomplish this by:

  • Strengthening the educational and social environment of Greenwood elementary via community-building events and service opportunities.
  • Supporting staff resourcefulness and promoting best practices by funding needs and initiatives that directly impact classrooms and children, including literacy efforts.
  • Complementing the school curriculum with additional opportunities for parents, teachers and students to learn, communicate and grow.
  • Increasing parental interest and involvement in our PTA chapter by building awareness of the critical role our organization has in supporting our school.
  • Maintaining a strategic financial plan for evaluating and prioritizing expenditures.
  • Continually evaluating the effectiveness of PTA efforts by requesting and responding to feedback from parents and staff.
  • Conducting purposeful fundraising to support Greenwood initiatives.

Who Can Join?

Any Greenwood parent/guardian or teacher is welcome to become a part of our team. We encourage all parents to attend our meetings and participate in volunteer opportunities.

There is a $12 membership fee for voting privileges.

Grizzly Dash is September 28

Grizzly Dash

The 4th Annual Grizzly Dash – our largest fundraiser – is scheduled for Friday, September 28. Grizzly Dash will take place by grade during school hours. We run to build school spirit, to have fun while being physically active and to raise money to support Greenwood! Our goal this year is $30,000.

Funds raised this year will go toward a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) At-School Field Trip. It will be a fun and educational day of activities that provide hands-on and minds-on lessons for students.

We ask family and friends to support our efforts by pledging donations. On Monday, September 17, students will bring home a pledge packet. There will be two ways to donate: online or sending pledge money to school with your student.

You can start collecting pledges now! Register today with PledgeStar, where each family will have a personal fundraising page.

Who is getting slimed?

Last year, when our fundraising goal was met, Dr. G. was slimed in front of the entire school! The sliming of Dr. G. was epic, and so successful that we have decided to up the sliming! This year, for every $3,000 raised by Greenwood students, they will unlock another staff member to be slimed! When the students reach our total fundraising goal of $30,000, the final mystery sliming victim will be revealed! That’s a total of at least 10 mystery sliming victims! We can meet our goal if we average $40 per student! Pledging is a simple flat rate pledge (not per lap of the Grizzly Dash).
