Homeschool and Non-Public Families

Important Dates and Deadlines
- Initial homeschool registration form: Submit by October 1st if it's your first year homeschooling in the district, or within 15 days of withdrawing a child from public school to homeschool.
- Letter of intent to continue homeschooling form: Submit by October 1st each year after the initial homeschool registration form has been filed with the district.
- Aids to nonpublic students: This form allows for reimbursement for materials and aid for services. It must be submitted by October 1st to be eligible.
Additional Information
- Address changes: Please notify the Welcome Center of any address changes.
- Immunization records: Homeschool immunization records or a notarized statement of conscientious objection must be submitted with the initial homeschool registration form, or as updates if not already on file.
- Special education services: Wayzata Public Schools is responsible for identifying children ages birth through 21 with disabilities, including those in private schools and homeschools. If you have concerns about your child's development or suspect a disability, contact your child's teacher or the Student Support Services office at Wayzata Public Schools (763-745-5043) for referral information. Eligibility for services is based on Minnesota state criteria.
- Federal programs and educational benefits: Nonpublic students, including homeschool students, who qualify based on Free and Reduced lunch eligibility and are achieving below grade level may be eligible for participation in some federal programs.
