How to Enroll

About Skyward

Skyward Family Access is a secure, web-based student information system. It's the tool our families use for everything from:

• Enrolling students in our schools
• Reporting absences
• Viewing grades and test scores
• And more

Request account access

Request access if you have:

• Never enrolled a student in our district.
• Enrolled a student before, but cannot access New Student Enrollment in Skyward.

You do not need to request access if you can log in to Skyward and open New Student Enrollment.

When filling out the request form

• Answer "yes" to the first question only if:
  • You have a Skyward account, and 
  • Cannot access New Student Enrollment.
• Complete all required fields, marked with a red asterisk*.

Information you need to enroll

• Proof of address
  • Renters should provide a lease agreement.
  • Homeowners should provide a warranty deed from closing documents or a Hennepin County tax statement. 
  • If you're building a new home in the district, provide a copy of your Purchase Agreement.
• School your student is assigned to
• Student's birth certificate or passport
• Current vaccine records

What to know

• The form should be completed by a legal parent or guardian.
• It's easiest to fill it out on a laptop or desktop computer.
• Fill out one form per student.
• Each form takes about 30 minutes to complete.

How to find and complete the form

1. On the top navigation bar, click on the down arrow.
   • Select New Student Enrollment.
   • Click on the tile that indicates the school year and grade you are enrolling for.
2. You will see a popup.
   • Click the down arrow and choose your child's grade, K-12.
   • Select the school your child is assigned to attend.
3. Save your work.
   • You will see the enrollment form. 
   • Fill out the form and hit submit.

After you submit the form

Someone from our Welcome Center staff will:

• Review the form.
• Contact you if we need more information.
• Send you an email that will:
  • Confirm your student's enrollment
  • Tell you which school they will attend
  • Share next steps
