Achievement and Integration

Our district is working to close the achievement gap. We're using research-based methods.

Overview

All students deserve the chance to thrive today and excel tomorrow. Yet, school districts across our country have achievement and opportunity gaps.

The state of Minnesota gives us funding to find new and better ways to address these gaps.

Our district uses this funding to apply research-based methods that:

  • Show promise in closing achievement and opportunity gaps.
  • Help all students succeed.

Focus areas

We have two focus areas.

Creating inclusive classrooms

Strategies include:

  • Use more interactive and responsive classroom practices.
  • Plan lessons that meet students' basic needs — belonging, success, freedom and fun.
  • Lead ongong staff trainings on these practices.

This helps all students feel a sense of belonging and do better in school.

Removing barriers

Strategies include:

  • Listen to students and give them more chances to lead.
  • Build stronger relationships with families.
  • Connect families with community partners.

Goals

Our plan is built around three goals.
