Policy 604 - Development of Parent and Family Engagement Policies for Title I Programs
I. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to meaningfully encourage and facilitate engagement by parents and families of students participating in Title I educational programs.
II. General Statement of Policy
A. The policy of the school district is to plan and implement, with meaningful consultation with parents and families of participating children, programs, activities and procedures for the engagement of parents and families in its Title I programs.
B. The policy shall provide the framework for organized, systematic, ongoing, informed and timely parental involvement in relation to decisions about the Title I services within the school district.
C. The involvement of parents and families by the school district shall be directed toward both public or and private school children whose parents and families are school district residents and/or whose children attend a school that receives Title I funding, within the boundaries of the school district.
D. Parent and family engagement practices are governed by Federal law. It is the policy of the school district to fully comply with the law which includes parent and family engagement practices that are written and distributed to families of students who receive Title I services. All Title I parent and family engagement documents are also posted on the district website.
