Policy 525 - Solicitation of Students (Organizational Membership)
I. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to set forth the process for the solicitation of students for membership or participation in non-school affiliated activities and organizations.
II. General Statement of Policy
The Board of Education believes that classrooms should not be used for solicitation of student membership or participation in non-school affiliated organizations. Responsible community-based organizations which offer nonsectarian activities and whose potential value for students is clearly
recognized are authorized to leave explanatory materials with the building principal. These may then be made available to students in a manner to be determined by the principal. It is not incumbent upon school staff to promote such activity or organizations beyond facilitating student acquisition of
descriptive literature.
