Policy 516-R Admission of Nonresident Students, Open Enrollment Options Regulations
I. Implementation
A. Open enrollment students will be assigned to specific schools on a space available basis. Each applicant will indicate three choices of schools to attend. Every effort will be made to honor one of these choices. Students will be notified of school assignment in accordance with state procedures.
B. Assignment of the student to any grade level or combination of class sections shall not adversely affect class size guidelines.
C. Transportation to and from school shall be provided by the parent or legal guardian, with the exception that the student may, upon request to the Director of Transportation, access district transportation at any convenient location where a bus stop is regularly scheduled.
D. Once assigned to a school, open-enrolled students will be provided the same educational programs as resident students. Should the need arise to move students because of overcrowded conditions in a school, nonresident students will be considered for displacement to other buildings just as resident students are.
