In the event of inclement weather, the superintendent may close school, delay the start of school or dismiss school early. If Wayzata Public Schools closes or has a late start, phone calls, email and SMS text messages (message and data rates may apply) will be sent to all families using the District parent notification system. To ensure that we have accurate contact information, please update Skyward Family Access.
Announcements will also be posted on the district website at www.wayzataschools.org, District Facebook and Twitter, and shared with the following local media: WCCO Radio 830 AM; WCCO-TV, Channel 4; KSTP-TV, Channel 5; KMSP-TV, Channel 9; and KARE- TV, Channel 11. If an early dismissal is required during the school day, we will follow the designated plan we should have on file for your child/children.
When Wayzata Public Schools is closed all day, this includes Wayzata Kids child care, early childhood classes and preschool, community use of facilities, Adult Basic Education classes, and youth and adult evening events and classes.
If Wayzata Public Schools announces a late start, Wayzata Kids will also start late. If school is starting two hours late, then Wayzata Kids child care will open at 9:00 a.m. and morning preschool and early childhood programs will be canceled. If an early dismissal is announced after 7:00 a.m., children already at Wayzata Kids (or in their classrooms) will need to be picked up within one hour.
