Wayzata High School will host its 5^th Annual Career & Technical Education (CTE) Showcase on Friday, February 24. More than 70 local companies, organizations, colleges and trade schools will participate in this year’s student-focused event at the high school. 

Tyler Shepard, associate principal at Wayzata High School, has been named this year’s recipient of the Minnesota Assistant Principal of the Year Award by the Minnesota Association of Secondary Principals (MASSP). Shepard has served as associate principal at WHS for the past six years and he has been a school administrator for seven years.

Trojan Tots preschool is offered through Wayzata High School's Child Psychology II course. The unique preschool program is open to all community preschoolers who are 2.5 to 5 years old and potty-trained. WPS high school students plan and present daily learning activities in the areas of science, math, art, music, language development and movement. 

Congratulations to Wayzata Public Schools’ teachers Polly Laugen and Lauren Sobota-Paxton for being selected as candidates for the 2023 Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Both candidates teach at Central Middle School: Laugen teaches 6^th grade science and Sobota-Paxton teaches 7^th grade math.

Fifteen 6th grade students from East Middle School took the top five places in last Fall’s Stock Market Game^TM. The online interactive learning program engages students in grades 4-12 in the world of economics, investing, and personal finance. 

Wayzata Public Schools has been named a recipient of a $185,000 Farm to School Full Tray/Second Helping Grant and AGRI Equipment Grant. The Farm to School grant from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture will be used to purchase locally grown food for all of the district’s school sites.
