Deb Godejahn, Music Teacher
North Woods Elementary
When people think of Deb Godejahn a smile immediately follows. Her energy, enthusiasm, and excitement for being a member of the North Woods Wolf Pack has been evident from day one.
When applying for the music position, North Woods Elementary was still being built. Deb composed a school song which she sang in her interview. She has been leading the pack in school spirit and building community with her original composition since we opened in 2019.
That commitment to building community at North Woods continued the moment we opened our doors. Deb started with Voices of the North Woods Choir for 4th and 5th graders, accepting anyone and everyone who wanted to join this inspiring group of singers. The choir not only performs in concerts throughout the year, they also represent North Woods at Twins and Timberwolves sporting events. The choir is integral to honoring those who serve or served in the military during our annual Veteran’s Day celebration, and they perform in the MLK assembly recognizing the vision of Martin Luther King Jr. each January. None of these community building events could happen without Deb.
Deb uses positive energy and perseverance to find ways for all kids to thrive in her music classroom. Through a variety of activities that include singing, movement, and instrumentation, every skill and interest level is nurtured and celebrated. Be it ukuleles, xylophones, boomwhackers, or recorders, Deb goes above and beyond to make music class accessible and fun for everyone.
