WHS Honors 35-year District Employee and Football Superfan

Dan Carlson retired after 35 years as the district’s Master Electrician on September 30, 2022. One week later, he was honored for his decades of service during a special half–time tribute at a Wayzata High School home football game.

It was fitting that the district showed their appreciation to Carlson under the Friday night lights of the Wayzata Trojan Football Stadium. For the past 35 football seasons, he worked at every home game with the exception of one. Carlson was responsible to make sure that the lights were bright, the scoreboards were working, the announcer’s microphone could be heard, the concession stand could operate, and that the coaches could communicate on their headsets. While the technology, coaches and athletic directors have changed over the years, his dedication to Wayzata Public Schools – and especially the Trojan Football team – never waivered.

Dan Carlson loves the game, the team, and the WPS community. And for 35 years he made it his mission to make the football game experience the best it could be for the Wayzata High School players, coaches and spectators.
