Congratulations to Chris Thein, athletic trainer at Wayzata High School for 26 years, who won the Fred Zamberletti Award. This honor comes from the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation. Thein is a licensed Athletic Trainer and a Nationally Registered EMT at Twin Cities Orthopedics. He will be honored for his hard work to keep student-athletes safe and help them perform their best. This recognition will take place during the upcoming Minnesota Football Honors television show. His long career includes caring for athletes and giving sports medicine talks. He has been part of medical teams for many state tournaments. This includes 20 consecutive state wrestling tournaments.
Thein's career has lasted 35 years. It started after he got degrees from North Dakota State University and Illinois State University. He has won several awards. One is the company Athletic Trainer Award for giving Basic Life Support in the 1992 MSHSL Prep Bowl. The Fred Zamberletti Award honors Fred Zamberletti. He was a trailblazer in athletic training. He served as the first head athletic trainer for the Minnesota Vikings. Thein cares deeply for student-athletes. His work in sports medicine shows this, and he truly deserves this honor.
