At a special meeting held Monday, March 2, the Wayzata School Board unanimously selected three finalists to interview for the school district’s superintendent position. The finalists are:
- Dr. Rainey Briggs, Chief Operations Officer, Des Moines Public Schools, IA
- Cory McIntyre, Superintendent, Anoka-Hennepin Schools, MN
- Dr. Robb Virgin, Assistant Superintendent, Eden Prairie Schools, MN
The finalists were selected from a pool of 20 applicants, based on criteria established by the School Board and input provided through a robust community engagement process with Wayzata’s school communities. Six semi-finalists were interviewed by a sub-committee of the School Board on February 25 and 26, 2026.
Each finalist will participate in “A Day in the District” on Thursday, March 5, 2026, which includes tours of four Wayzata school buildings and a large-group interview with a representative group of school community members. District employees, parents and representatives from various district advisory groups have been selected from the Superintendent Search focus groups utilized earlier in the process. Wayzata students will be helping principals lead the finalist tours.
The School Board has scheduled interviews for the finalists beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026. Feedback from the tours and interviews held on Thursday, March 5 will be summarized and provided to the School Board following the final interviews on Friday, March 6.
The final interviews with the School Board on Friday, March 6, 2026 will be held at the District’s Creekside Building (16000 41st Ave. N., Plymouth) and are open to the public. To ensure a fair interview process for all candidates, the interviews will not be livestreamed. However, recordings of the finalist interviews will be posted for viewing after the interviews are concluded and will remain posted through Sunday, March 15. The lone finalist’s interview will then remain posted indefinitely.
“Our community’s voice is an essential part of this process,” said School Board Chair Dr. Milind Sohoni. “We look forward to engaging staff, students, families and community members on March 5, as we move forward to selecting the next leader of Wayzata Public Schools."
