Five years ago, the Wayzata Special Education Advisory Committee (WSEAC) created an annual award to honor outstanding staff members who go above and beyond to make our schools truly inclusive. This spring, families and staff nominated educators who make a real difference for students with disabilities, and the WSEAC selected this year’s winners at their May meeting. This award celebrates staff who create a sense of belonging for every student. Please join us in honoring Adam Fleischacker, a teacher at North Woods Elementary.

Adam was nominated by a North Woods family for his positive impact on their son. Their student lives with significant disabilities, but Adam refuses to let him sit on the sidelines. Whether it’s holding the student securely so he can bounce in a bouncy house or helping him steer a scooter board, Adam provides the physical support the student needs to play right alongside his classmates.

Henry's family shared that Adam's dedication extends to every student at North Woods through:

• Constant communication: Keeping families connected and celebrating every single milestone, no matter how small.
• Creative adaptations: Finding innovative ways to make sure every activity is accessible to all.
• Humility and character: Looking past outward differences to help every child see their own potential and rise above adversity.
