Activities

Intramural activities are offered at different times throughout the school year and will be advertised through the website, parent newsletter, activities bulletin board, Central Connect news and school announcements. Registration and participation information will be given as they are introduced. Please do not register before that time.

An annual Intramural fee of $25.00 is required, which covers all intramural activities for the year. Fall and spring musicals have their own registration and are not considered an intramural.

Spanish Club

Spanish Club participants will take part in cultural activities relating to Spanish.  

Students will meet in room A201 every first and third Wednesday of the month beginning January 23, from 4:10-5:20 p.m. 

January 23, February 6 and 20, March 6 and 20, April 3 and 17, May 1.

Breakfast Book Club

Breakfast Book Club meets in the media center every last Monday of the month beginning October 29.  Students meet before school at 8:00 a.m. to choose the books they will read, and discuss the books they have read.

Culinary Club

A club for students to learn more about cooking hands-on.  Students will meet on Tuesday's beginning February 2 - March 26, in room A 306 from 4:10-5:20 p.m.

Science!

Science! is an activity in which students will try different science experiments while developing a life-long love for science by involving students in multiple hands-on science activities in an environment that promotes teamwork and learning. There will be two sessions to choose from: 

  • Mondays beginning February 11 - May 20.
  • Wednesdays beginning February 13 - May 22.

Both sessions will be held after school from 4:10-5:20 p.m. in room D111.

Please specify on your intramural registration, which session you will be participating in. Class size limited to 24 per session. May be subject to a small supply fee TBD.

Debate Club will begin March 14 and run every Thursday after school 4:10-5:20 p.m. in room D115. For more information, contact Mr. Holder at Kyle.Holder@wayzataschools.org.

Math Masters

Math Masters is a competitive club for 6th grade students.  Students will meet on Thursdays, starting January 17, from 4:10-5:20 p.m. in Ms. Olson's room C115.  

Competition will be held on the morning of Saturday, March 2 for students that are selected.

Chess and Strategic Games

Students meet in room A413 on Wednesdays 4:10-5:20 p.m. to play chess and other strategic games. This activity began October 3.

History Bowl

National History Bowl is a competitive activity that will meet Thursday morning, January 10, in Mr. Blumer's room, A307 for an informational meeting. History Bowl will then meet Wednesday mornings beginning January 14 - April 26. Students in all grades are eligible to participate.

Math Counts will begin on Tuesday, January 8, at 4:10 p.m. in the Media Center.

Saturday, February 2:  Chapter Competition at North Hennipen Community College

Students will compete in two different events throughout the Math Counts competition practices. The top eight scorers plus two more chosen at the coaches discretion will advance to the Math Counts Competition. At the chapter competition, four students will represent our school during the team competition and six students will compete in the individual competition.

Bullet Journal Club

Create bullet journals a space to make goals, track habits, organize, schedule, make spread sheets, and more. Bring a journal. Meets Tuesdays through December 17.

Creative Writing - Short Stories

Creative Writing – Short Stories. Students will receive prompts and inspiration in order to create short stories.

Tuesday mornings, 8:00-8:50 a.m. in room A207. First session is November 6.

Journalists needed for sports, local news, headline stories, investigative reports, book reviews, opinion articles, and much more.  

Start date is November 6.  Students will meet Tuesday afternoons 4:10-5:20 p.m. in the gold computer lab room C09.

Dungeons and Dragons

Registration is now closed for Dungeons and Dragons. First session is November 7 - December 12.

The adventure embarks on Wednesdays after school from 4:10-5:20 p.m. in room D115.  It s a game of table top RPG as a way to personalize learning, promote leadership, boost collaboration, foster social empathy and slay monsters.

Future Problem Solvers

Future Problem Solvers is a competitive club for students that are creative problem solvers whom care about issues facing our planet. Students meet in room C17 on Wednesdays from 4:10-5:20 p.m. starting October 6

Lego League

Lego League is a competitive club in robotics and is open to students grades 6-8.

Spelling Bee

2019 Spelling Bee will take place January 15 after school from 4:10-5:20 p.m. in Mrs. Osterholt's room, A413.

The first 25 students to email Nichole.Osterholt@wayzataschools.org by December 7 will be able to compete.

Math League is a competitive activity that starts in the beginning of the school year.

Running Club

Athletic Movement and Performance (Running Club) will begin December 10, and meet on Monday's outside in the CMS dome from 4:10-5:20 p.m.

The first half of the session will focus on athletic movement, agility, and endurance training. The second half of each session will be for soccer, ultimate frisbee, and other sports.

No experience necessary, come dressed in athletic clothes, shoes and a water bottle.
