No Late Activity Buses Today

Due to the weather conditions, our late activity buses have been cancelled for today. All students who ride the bus should get on their regularly scheduled bus at 3:10 this afternoon.

New SMS Emergency Notifications for Students

Wayzata Public Schools has been piloting a SMS notification system to communicate directly to high school students in the event of an emergency. Parents/guardians already receive information via email, phone calls, text message, and social media. We want to also be able to provide detailed information to students, such as where to move to during an emergency, where buses will be picking up students, or other directions for the students on campus.

Because these messages will be tailored to students, we ask that you enter your personal cell phone number, not your parent or guardian's cell phone number.

To sign-up for the notifications, please follow these steps (or watch this video):

  1. Sign in to your Skyward Student Access account
  2. Under your high school student(s) account select "Student Info" from the left side blue bar
  3. Click "Request Changes" for STUDENT at the top and choose "Student Information"
  4. Select cell phone and provide the cell phone number for the student
  5. Click Save

Message and data rates may apply and are the responsibility of the parent or student. If you have questions, please contact Kristin Tollison, Director of Administrative Services, at Kristin.Tollison@wayzataschools.org.

If you did not receive the test SMS in November, or have recently added your cell phone number to Skyward Student Access, please text "Yes" to 67587 to receive future SMS messages from Wayzata High School and Wayzata Public Schools.

2019 Minnesota Student Survey

Wayzata High School is asking students in grades 9 and 11 to participate in the 2019 Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) tomorrow (Friday, February 8), during an extended 1st Block. The MSS is conducted in schools across Minnesota every three years. A link to the survey will be sent to you Friday morning. Some parents have requested to opt out their students. Those students will not receive the survey.

Questions on the survey are about many topics relating to young people's lives. The survey asks about how well school is going, future plans, out-of-school activities, physical and mental health, relationships, substance use and more. High school students are asked about sexual behavior. This useful information about their thoughts and behaviors helps communities and schools develop effective programs and provide better services.

This survey is anonymous. To prevent individuals or families from being identified, students do not provide their names, student identification numbers or other personal information. This survey is voluntary. Students may decline to take any part of the survey or the whole survey.

Virtual Day on April 12, 2019

On Friday, April 12th, and Saturday, April 13th, WHS is proud to be hosting the Minnesota State Speech Tournament which will utilize the entire building. To accommodate this tournament, students in grades 9-12 will have a "virtual day" on Friday, April 12, and will not report to school. The virtual day for students will include independent work assigned to students by their teachers, accessible via the iPad. The expectation will be that students complete their assigned class activities outside of school, on this "virtual day." If access to your iPad or the internet presents an issue, please contact your Social Worker or Associate Principal.
