Volume 17 January 7, 2019 Andrew Zimmern - Compass Ecology of Food & Nutrition Class Guest The Compass Ecology of Food and Nutrition class spent time with Andrew Zimmern on Thursday hearing his perspective on food, culture, community and the future of food and our environment. Mr. Zimmern, a Minnesota resident and the host of the Travel Channel's Bizzare Foods also spoke to over 900 WHS students about how he uses the "power of food with a story" to try and tackle issues our food system faces. Messages that resonated with the Compass students included his belief that putting himself in new situations allows him to become his best self, and how treating people with dignity and respect are the best ways to get the most out of relationships. Our time with Zimmern embodied his final words of wisdom to the students, "meet real people, because that's what changes lives."
