From the Desk of Dr. G Thank you! The school year is nearly over and our hearts are filled with gratitude. We know student learning, creativity, and character-building is a team effort. We're excited for one more week of learning and all the memories it will entail, but wanted to be sure to say, "Thank you!"
We'd also like to express our appreciation to our entire PTA and all of the volunteers and families who found new and innovative ways to Make More Happen at Greenwood. A special thanks to our PTA President, Karin Helmey, for her leadership, can-do attitude, collaboration, and service. Our school is special because of the dedicated people who help in so many ways.
Summer Safety I try to send a note about Summer safety before school lets out each year. The additional free time students have means many will find more time to play with friends, read, explore, connect online, and enjoy more independence. This makes it the perfect time to review family expectations and talk about safety.
Please take time to talk with your child about how to avoid potentially unsafe situations. The National Crime Prevention Council offers support for parents facilitating these important conversations. I'm sharing the parenting resources for anyone interested. If there's anything else we can do to help please let me know. In Partnership,
Did You Know? Lost & Found Our lost and found is overflowing. Please take an inventory at home for any missing clothing and ask your child to review the items in lost and found. Items that are clearly labeled will be returned to students. All unclaimed items will be donated to Interfaith Outreach the last day of school.
Reminders Summer Reading First, the bad news: Research shows that neglecting to read over the summer is detrimental to student learning. Now, the good news: Your student has access to free eBook & audiobook apps to enjoy over the summer—plus, Hennepin County has one of the best public library systems in the United States!
Please review the #GWreads Summer 2021 Flyer for links to online resources and suggestions for titles to enjoy.
P.S. Did you know that Hennepin County Library has eliminated late fines? The book you forgot about for months is no longer an excuse to avoid the library!

It is important that we have accurate information regarding your student's address and school plans. Please email Kallie Spaulding or call the main office at 763-745-5500 with any questions.
