Note from Mr. Williams Dear Sunset Hill Families,
As we near the end of the school year, we are looking forward to some exciting activities for students as we do every year. One of these events was supposed to occur today, but the weather did not allow us to have our Track and Field event. It will be held tomorrow. Unfortunately, please remember that we are not able to have parent volunteers or visitors as part of this event. We are hopeful that next year, things will be back to "normal." Mr. Randall and Mr. McCauley are planning to provide a padlet for distance choice students so they can also participate in field activities.
Material Pick Up Our last scheduled material pick up is tomorrow, Friday, May 28. We know that coordinating these pick up times has been an important element to our distance learning format this year. Thank you to our teachers and parents for your time and energy, which has created a highly successful distance learning program.
Honey & Mackie's Ice Cream Donation We are receiving a school-wide donation from Honey & Mackie's for a single serving scoop of ice cream on our last day of school, June 10. Distance choice students will receive a free scoop on the same day, during their material return. Honey and Mackie's will also be providing a dairy/gluten free option, as well as a nut free option, upon request. If your child would like the dairy/gluten free or the nut free option, please email Ms Jay in the office at jayashree.narasimhan@wayzataschools.org.
Important End-of-Year Information for our Distance Choice Families The FINAL material drop-off and farewell for Sunset Hill students will be on Thursday, June 10 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. This will be an opportunity to return any remaining school materials, iPads for grades K-4, and see your teachers as we close out the school year. Warmly,
Ross Williams
Did You Know? iPad Cable and Charger Infor for K-4 Families We've had a few important questions about the Apple charging cables and Apple charging bricks that were issued to K-4 students. Please take a moment to read through this guidance, and visit Epay if an item was misplaced, lost, or damaged. Thank you for your help as we begin preparing the technology for next year's learners.
Teacher-Tailored School Supply Kits If you are interested in purchasing a pre-packaged school supply kit for next year, you may order online. Please use account #87892 when placing your order. Orders are due by June 18. Kits will be delivered to your home by August 20. Here is the 2021-22 school supply list should you wish to purchase supplies on your own.
Reminders Is Your Family Moving? This is the time of year when many families make decisions to move. If your family is moving within the Wayzata School District, please contact the Welcome Center with your new address and a copy of your purchase agreement or lease. If you are moving out of the school district, we ask that you fill out the Withdrawal Form below. This form should be completed if your family is moving out of the district, making a different choice for education, or homeschooling.
Reporting Absences in Skyward Family Access When your student is absent, we need you to report the absence in Skyward Family Access, or with a call to the attendance line at 763-745-5955, to let us know the reason for the absence. Additionally, the Free Meals for Kids mobile app helps families find free meals at schools and other sites across Minnesota during school closures. How it works:
Free Meals for Kids can be downloaded at Apple or Google Play app stores iPad Returns By the end of the school year all iPads for K-4th grade students will be collected. Last fall, each student was also given an Apple charging cable and Apple charging brick. We need all remaining charging bricks and cables returned as well to ensure all iPads can be charged for next school year. If you already did this, thank you! Last chance to thank a teacher with a bundt cake! This school year has been unusual to say the least! Our teachers and staff have been a consistent, welcoming presence in our students' lives this year more than ever. Show your support for all they have done with a donation to the Wayzata Education Fund. Each donation made in honor of a teacher or staff until June 1 will include a special certificate of thanks from you, and every donation of $25 or more will come with a bundtlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Whether they’ve helped make a difference in-person or virtually, show your appreciation by participating in our Thank a Teacher program.
Community Ed New offering! Wayzata Community Ed and Twin City Tennis Camps are pleased to offer tennis lessons for ages 5-18 at Central Middle School this summer. Full or half-day camps available. Find more information and register on the Twin City Tennis website.
