WHS Theatre Department… a good place to get involved!

Did you know that the theatre department provides many opportunities for WHS students to get involved in ALL aspects of producing a play or musical? In a typical year, the department sponsors 6 fully produced shows, plus various smaller projects (in addition to hosting a drama club and a playwriting club). We need students who love to sing, dance and act. But we also need students who are interested in building elaborate sets, stage managing, handling lighting and props, costuming, writing and more! No experience, no problem – we are happy to train you!

Parent volunteers are also crucial in helping theatre thrive at WHS. The Wayzata Theatre Booster Board supports the program by fundraising for capital equipment, by providing advertising, concessions and meals around student productions, subsidizing student master classes and field trips and much more. We are looking for interested parents to join this team for a fun, low-key and rewarding mission. If you'd like to learn more, please contact boosterswayzatatheatre@gmail.com.

Noodles in Wayzata is hosting a fundraiser for WHS Theatre on Tuesday, May 18, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Mention 'WHS Theatre' or use the coupon code GIVING25 in the Noodles app or online and proceeds will go to the WHS theatre program. Check out this flyer for more details.

Mindfulness Sessions Feedback Requested

Help us keep Mindfulness available in our building next year!

If your student participated in any of our virtual Mindfulness Sessions on Fridays this school year, we would love to have their feedback. Our Mindfulness Sessions are provided to us through a grant and we need their input to keep Mindfulness available next year! Please ask them to complete the 2020-2021 Mindfulness Program Evaluation. We appreciate your help!

Online Mindfulness Class for WHS Students

Mindfulness is a powerful, research-based practice that can help teens reduce stress and anxiety, and improve focus and concentration. This mindfulness class consists of seven sessions in which students will learn basic mindfulness practices and develop strategies for self-care and stress reduction. The course also includes:

  • strategies for navigating school-related and/or test anxiety
  • practices for working with overwhelm and distraction
  • relaxation and calming exercises

The class is open to all interested students and will be taught by Sarah Rudell Beach, a Mindful Schools Certified Mindfulness instructor and former Wayzata High School teacher.

Students are encouraged to join us via Zoom for any or all of the following Fridays from

11:20 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Meeting ID:  898 7002 338, Passcode:  56751223

Join us for our last 4 sessions of Mindfulness this year: May 21, May 28 & June 4.
