State Testing The MCA and MTAS state tests will be conducted this spring for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The MCA/MTAS tests will be the same as they have been in years past. They are designed to measure the degree to which students have mastered the concepts and skills from the Minnesota Academic Standards. Given the different types of learning models and educational experiences this year, what may change is how the results are used at the state, district and school level.
All MCA and MTAS state tests will be taken on site at Central Middle School. There will be no remote testing options. Families of students who are enrolled in the Distance Choice learning model received a survey invite via email from the WPS Research and Evaluation Department regarding MCA participation for their student. Information about what to do and where to go on testing days will be shared at a later date. Students who typically take the MTAS tests will get information about testing directly from their case manager.
The dates for the MCA tests are the following:
Distance Choice Students 6th grade - Reading and Math: April 30 7th grade - Reading and Math: April 23 8th grade - Math: April 16 8th grade - Reading and Science: May 7
Hybrid Students 6th, 7th, 8th grades - Reading: April 20 6th, 7th, 8th grades - Math: April 27 8th grade - Science: May 11
If you have questions about MCA's, please contact Leslie Jones, Dean of Students at (763)745-6031.
