Principal's Notes

Can you believe it is mid-October already? We hope that your child has settled into life at CMS this school year. As we move through the year, you may notice that students are receiving homework assignments daily. Please work with your child to complete assignments in a timely manner. If students do not complete their assignments, teachers will record it as missing assignment or NHI (Not Handed In). It is important that students are keeping track of their assignments and turning them in a timely manner.

We hope that you have a relaxing MEA break with family and friends. There will be no school on October 18 and 19.  School resumes on October 22.

Have a safe MEA break,

Mr. Doten and Mr. Farrington

Reminders

Cold and flu season is approaching

Please encourage your child to practice thorough hand washing and have their mouths covered when coughing or sneezing to  protect themselves and others.  If your student is ill, please keep them home and report their absence.  We ask that students  return to school when they have been fever free with no vomiting for 24 hours.

Attendance

Please be proactive if planning to excuse your child early for MEA. Attendance and early dismissals can now be entered in Skyward Family Access. As in the past, you may still send a note with your student to turn in to the front office in the morning, or call the attendance line at 763-745-6055. Your student should have a blue pass to leave class early.  This one step can reduce the number of interruptions in the classroom.

Scholastic Book Fair Starts Monday

The Scholastic Book Fair starts next Monday, October 22-25. The fair will be open during the school day that week for students, as well as the evenings of Tuesday and Thursday night during conferences for families. All proceeds from our fair go directly back to CMS in the form of books for classrooms, the media center and directly to students. It's a win-win for us all! We still have some spots to fill for volunteers.

  • Monday – 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday – 8:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. (conference evening)
  • Wednesday – 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m
  • Thursday – 8:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. (conference evening)

If you are not able to make it into the fair, shop our fair online anytime from October 5 - 25. All purchases will be delivered to CMS free of charge and will be distributed to your student to bring home. If your purchase contains a gift for you student, you can choose to have your books delivered to CMS and you will be contacted when they arrive for pick up.

Spirit Wear Delivery

If you ordered Spirit Wear online in the first run, your orders will be arriving via Spee-Dee Delivery at the end of next week. Because of the volume of orders, screen printed items may be delivered in one package and embroidered items in a second package. Should you have any questions regarding your order, please contact Rambow Customer Service at 800-472-6269.

Online Spirit Wear Store Open

If you missed the first order deadline, you still have time to order Wayzata Spirit Wear online. The store is open for a 2nd run now through November 8. Just go to www.Rambow.com and type in Store Code: Wayzata. Gear will be shipped directly to home the first week of December. Wayzata gear makes the perfect holiday gift!

Box Tops For Education Deadline is October 31

The PTA is getting ready to submit our first round of Box Tops For Education.  Please cut out your Box Tops, and check your expiration dates.  There is a Box Top collection box in the Front Office.

PTA Fall Fundraiser Donations Still Accepted

Thank you to everyone who participated in our "Donate Your Way" Fall Fundraiser! We earned almost $12,000 net, with a combination of Heggies Pizza orders and online donation funds. There is still time to help us reach our goal of $15,000. If you did not have the chance to participate, online monetary donations are still being accepted.

Volunteer Needs

We are in need of volunteers to help with the Book Fair and food donations for conference meals. Please consider helping in any way you can. The PTA and our fantastic teachers and staff appreciate your time and generosity.
