Dear Birchview Families,
We need your help! It has never been more important to follow the necessary protocols to keep everyone safe at school. Specifically:
- Please keep your child at home if they are sick.
- Your child should stay home if anyone else in your household is sick until COVID-19 is ruled out or they have received another diagnosis from a medical professional.
- Your child should stay home when someone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19 or if someone in the household is sick and is awaiting test results.
Check Your Student for Symptoms Daily and Stay Home if Sick
- Check your child for symptoms in the morning and keep them home if they are sick. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Extreme fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- New or severe headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- New congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- If your child or anyone in your household has any of these symptoms, please stay home and contact your health care provider to rule out that it is COVID-19.
- If you are tested for COVID-19 due to symptoms or exposure, even if you feel well, it is important you remain home and away from others until you receive the results.
- Report any student absences into Skyward Family Access, specifying if the absence is COVID-19 related. Our school nurses will follow up with any COVID-19 related cases.
We all have to do our part to keep our students and staff safe, and be able to continue providing in-person learning. If too many staff or students become affected, we may have to transition to distance learning for entire classrooms, grade levels or potentially the entire school.
We sincerely appreciate your full cooperation at this challenging time.
Stay well,
Ashley Farrington
