Academic

Registration for the Fall 2021-2022 school year is approaching. Be sure to check your graduation requirements before registering for the following school year.

 

A student must earn 60 credits in Grades 9-12 with a distribution of coursework that meets the standards established by the Wayzata Public Schools' School Board and meets Minnesota state standards.

These credits include:

  • 8 credits of English 
  • 8 credits of Math
  • 8 credits of Science
  • 8 credits of Social Studies 
  • 2 credits of Fine Art
  • 2 credits of PE
  • 1 credit of Health
  • 23 Electives

NACAC Virtual College Fairs 

Sign up now for free at virtualcollegefairs.org. Families are invited, too!  Find the college that fits you at an upcoming NACAC Virtual College Fair. It's easy! Just drop in on Zoom sessions offered by hundreds of colleges. It's one day to explore your options and get started on your college dreams. Hear about student life, majors and programs, financial aid, scholarships, and more, plus ask questions and text chat. More than 500 colleges and universities will be online to talk with high school students on each of these days:

  • Sunday, Jan. 31: 1-7 p.m. ET
  • Sunday, Feb. 28: 1-7 p.m. ET
  • Sunday, Mar. 7: 1-5 p.m. ET - STEM
  • Tuesday, Mar. 16: 4-8 p.m. ET - Performing & Visual Arts
  • Sunday, Mar. 21: 1-7 p.m. ET
  • Saturday, Apr. 10: 3-7 p.m. ET - Western US
  • Tuesday, Apr. 20: 3-7 p.m. ET - Southeastern US
  • Sunday, May 2: 1-7 p.m. ET

Sessions cover topics such as how to apply, financial aid, student life, and more. You can watch, learn, and get your questions answered about academics, athletics, diversity, study abroad, and other topics. You can also text chat or meet one-on-one with a college's admission counselor by selecting a virtual meeting date and time.

Online Mindfulness Class for WHS Students

Mindfulness is a powerful, research-based practice that can help teens reduce stress and anxiety, and improve focus and concentration. This mindfulness class consists of six sessions in which students will learn basic mindfulness practices and develop strategies for self-care and stress reduction.

The course also includes:

  • strategies for navigating school-related and/or test anxiety
  • practices for working with overwhelm and distraction
  • relaxation and calming exercises

The class is open to all interested students and will be taught by Sarah Rudell Beach, a Mindful Schools Certified Mindfulness instructor and former Wayzata High School teacher.

 

Students are encouraged to join us via Zoom for any or all of the following Fridays from
