From the Principal Dear North Woods Families, We need your help! It has never been more important to follow the necessary protocols to keep everyone safe at school. Specifically: - Please keep your child at home if they are sick.
- Your child should stay home if anyone else in your household is sick until COVID-19 is ruled out or they have received another diagnosis from a medical professional.
- Your child should stay home when someone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19 or if someone in the household is sick and is awaiting test results.
Check Your Student for Symptoms Daily and Stay Home if Sick - Check your child for symptoms in the morning and keep them home if they are sick. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Extreme fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- New or severe headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- New congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- If your child or anyone in your household has any of these symptoms, please stay home and contact your health care provider to rule out that it is COVID-19.
- If you are tested for COVID-19 due to symptoms or exposure, even if you feel well, it is important you remain home and away from others until you receive the results.
- Report any student absences into Skyward Family Access, specifying if the absence is COVID-19 related. Our school nurses will follow up with any COVID-19 related cases.
We all have to do our part to keep our students and staff safe, and be able to continue providing in-person learning. If too many staff or students become affected, we may have to transition to distance learning for entire classrooms, grade levels or potentially the entire school. We sincerely appreciate your full cooperation at this challenging time. Stay well, Jenny Berg Parent-Teacher Conferences Our February parent-teacher conferences will be virtual. Mark Your Child's Belongings Please remember to put your child's name on all their personal belongings. Our lost and found will be growing as we welcome all our students back to North Woods. Also, if you are dropping off something that your child forgot to bring to school, please mark those items with your child's name and their teacher's name. Morning Drop Off in Upper Lot - Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. Do not let your child(ren) out until you see a staff member outside at the drop off lane. Once a staff member is outside you may let your child(ren) out of your vehicle and have them walk into the building. Remain in your vehicle and ask your child to exit from the passenger side only.
- Please remind your child to put their mask on and practice social distancing before they exit the vehicle.
- Our goal is for your child to be in their classroom by 7:45 am.
- We have staff available to support social distancing as students enter the school.
- If you arrive after 7:45, you will need to park in the lot and walk your child in the main doors. Your child will be given a late pass before they head to class, otherwise their teach will mark them absent.
Fast Pass Reminders - Use the parent drop off/pick-up lane in the upper lot. Follow the one way signs.
- Begin arriving at school at 2:10 p.m. Students will begin coming out at 2:20 p.m.
- Pull all the way forward to get as many cars in the lane as possible. Please remain in your car. Staff members will be out on the sidewalk to help make sure your kids get in the cars safely.
- Display your FAST PASS number for staff to see. Staff will radio into the building and students will come out.
- Drive away as soon as your student is in the car. Be vigilant for any pedestrians. Please feel free to pull into our parking lot if you need to buckle your child in your car.
Reporting Absences Please report absences in Skyward Family Access when your child is absent or tardy. Children are considered unexcused without a call to the attendance line from a parent or guardian. You can still call the school attendance line at 763-745-4055 to report an absence.
