Did You Know?

Grade Level Curriculum
Each grade level has a presentation on our website that is an overview of this year's curriculum, schedules and expectations. 

Fourth & Fifth Grade Choir

All fourth and fifth grade students are welcome to join the Oakwood Choir.  Registration forms must be returned to Ms. Letourneau or the Main Office, no later than Monday, October 22.

All-District Choir

All fourth and fifth grade students are invited to audition.  Auditions will be held at Birchview  Elementary in the Music Room on Tuesday, October 9 and Wednesday, October 10, 3:30 -5:30 p.m.

Great Apple Crunch 2018

Thursday, October 11 is the 2018 Great Apple Crunch! We're celebrating National Farm to School Month by crunching into apples at noon. Everyone is welcome to crunch! Check out our video on Facebook from Great Apple Crunch 2017.

 

Reminders

Picture Day is Tuesday, October 9

Order at mylifetouch.com.  If using the envelope that was sent home today, return that with a check on October 9. Volunteers are needed.  Sign-up for a shift to assist children as they line up to get their photos taken, below under Volunteer Needs.

 

PTA News

PTA Tally Form

Please submit your PTA tally formMore information can be found on our website. While the deadline has passed to complete the Family Packet, we are still accepting the tally form in order to join the PTA and make classroom donations.  

 

Book Fair Planning Committee

Do you want to support books and reading for all students and families? Do you want to help build classroom collections and raise money for the media center? Are you looking for a way to get more involved without taking on a full school event? We are starting to plan the Oakwood Book Fair and we need Book Fair planning committee members. This year's theme is "Enchanted Forest". Our first meeting will be scheduled for mid-October. The Book Fair is December 3-7. You can choose your level of involvement. Here are a few of the responsibilities:

  • Coordinate volunteers
  • Coordinate class visits
  • Reading Challenge and classroom book talks
  • Teacher Wish List and Teacher Preview
  • Family Service Night fun
  • General Promotions

We will contact you soon to schedule the first meeting. If you have any questions, please email bookfair@oakwoodpta.org.

 

Family Directory

Please sign up to be included in the Oakwood Family Directory.  It is a good way to be able to connect with other Oakwood Families. Use the join code Oakwood PTA. If you have questions, email Michelle Ugurlu at vicepresident@oakwoodpta.org.

 

Box Tops for Education

Oakwood participates in Box Tops for EducationSave your box tops and send them to school with your student to put into the bucket in the office.

 
Volunteer Needs

Fall Family Jam on Friday, October 5 in the gym from 6-8 p.m.  We only have three volunteers and we need more in order to make this event a success! Join us for a family night of dancing, games, concessions and raffles to celebrate fall and the start of the school year!

Media Center

If interested in volunteering it the media center 2-4 times per month to shelve, cover new books and repair old books, please contact Carrie Carlson, Media Specialist, at Carrie.Carlson@wayzataschools.org or 763-745-5766.
