A Note from Principal Keffeler Hello Meadow Ridge Families, Today is the last day we will be together with our Hybrid students for a while. The Governor has increased restrictions on public spaces and private gatherings. Hospitals are at or near capacity. Youth sports have been put on hold. Please do your part to control the spread. The sooner case rates go down, the sooner we can begin to make plans for a return to in-person learning. Beginning November 30, here's what you can expect: - We will continue with A/B cohorts. Hybrid students will need to build their habits and stamina for home synchronous learning. Expectations for students and synchronous learning will grow as the weeks continue.
- There will be some synchronous learning every day. Your child's teacher will share that schedule.
- Attendance will be taken every day. If your child doesn't join the morning meeting, they will be counted absent. Please record any absences in Skyward.
- Lunch times will be in a window from 11:10-12:00. This will help our Wayzata Kids staff with managing all of the student schedules.
- Specialists will continue their synchronous time with their students.
- Fridays will remain the same.
- Please help your children set up a space. If you have more than one child, a headset with a microphone will help with distractions at home. Please keep all their school materials in one place. They will need quick access on their synchronous days.
- There will be many opportunities for media center book check out and materials pick up. Your child's teacher will communicate those times with you.
- Children need help with learning to be independent. If they are finished with all their asynchronous work in a matter of minutes, they are not doing their best work or listening to the teacher's instructions. Ask to see their work before it is submitted, or make some time every day to go through it with them.
- Teachers will provide many links for extra opportunities for learning. Please help your child take advantage of them.
Even with all that is happening, we still have much for which to be thankful. Little things, like the sunshine today, or a heartwarming read aloud shared with our children can lift our spirits and bring us moments of joy. I look forward to joining classroom zooms and seeing smiling faces on November 30. I wish you a relaxing holiday, Karen Lost and Found If you see an item that belongs to your child, email your child's teacher. Items will be donated after two weeks in lost and found. Help Needed The PTO is in search of an accountant to file our taxes this year. If you are interested, please contact us at wayzatamrpto@gmail.com. Thank a Teacher this holiday season with a bundt cake! Want a fun way to honor your child’s teacher and support a good cause? Show your support and say thank you to Wayzata Public Schools' teachers and staff with a donation to the Wayzata Education Fund. Each donation made in honor of a teacher or staff until December 18 will include a special certificate of thanks from you, and every donation of $25 or more will come with a bundlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes. We’ve always known that we have the greatest staff around, but this year it has been more evident than ever! Whether they’ve helped make a difference in-person or virtually, show your appreciation by participating in our Thank a Teacher program. Cakes and certificates will be delivered as long as it is safe to do so. If deemed unsafe, certificates will be emailed and cakes will be delivered at a later date.
