Dear Wayzata Elementary Families,
Our elementary schools are switching to distance learning starting on Monday, November 30 due to the rising cases of COVID-19. As was previously communicated to all WPS families, there will be no school for K-8 students on November 23 and 24 so that staff have necessary planning time to help make the transition to distance learning as smooth as possible.
This communication is intended to provide you with general information about what the shift means for your student and family. You will receive specific schedule and lesson information from your child's teacher via the Week-at-a-Glance.
Students currently enrolled in the Hybrid Option — In-person instruction previously delivered in the Hybrid model will now be provided synchronously (live) in Distance Learning classrooms. A/B groups will be maintained to support a positive transition for students and staff. Students currently enrolled in the Distance Choice Option — This will not significantly impact the learning experience that you currently have. A/B groups will be maintained. Students currently enrolled in Special Education and English Learner programs — Teachers in these areas will reach out directly to students and families to describe any changes in service delivery.
In an effort to increase synchronous (live) learning opportunities, the following will be provided live to all students (combining A/B cohorts) on a daily basis, Monday-Thursday:
In most instances, these four combined synchronous (live) activities will be completed in one morning and one afternoon block of time. In addition, specialist instruction will be delivered synchronously (live) for all students. Friday schedules and activities will remain consistent. Schools will be communicating information about materials pick-up schedules.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we continue to do all we can to provide your student with a meaningful learning experience. We welcome your questions and feedback, and are always here to help in any way that we can.
Be well,
