Dear Wayzata Kids Tier 1 Families,
As was shared with you previously today, Wayzata Public Schools is planning to shift elementary schools to an all distance learning model beginning November 30. Wayzata Kids will be providing childcare only to students of Tier 1 Critical Workers. We sincerely hope to be able to stay in our current learning models until November 30, but the reality is we have no control of the rapid spread of COVID-19 currently happening outside of our schools. It may be necessary to shift learning models prior to November 30.
Due to that, we are asking all Tier 1 families needing childcare during distance learning to re-register beginning Wednesday, November 11 at 9:00 a.m. We kindly ask that families register by Monday, November 16 by 4:00 p.m. to help us prepare for staffing. Please see below for additional information.
Available Only to Tier 1 Critical Workers
- One parent or guardian needs to be a Tier 1 Critical Worker in order to qualify for free school day childcare.
- In order to keep childcare numbers low, the Minnesota Department of Education encourages parents or legal guardians of eligible children to not utilize the school-age care program if you have the ability to work from home.
All Families Need to Re-register
- The shift in learning models shifts the childcare model too. Please re-register your child(ren) by Monday, November 16 by 4:00 p.m.
- Log into your Eleyo account
- Scroll down to the "Distance Model 20-21" section
- Choose your child's elementary school
- Complete the enrollment questions to create a new contract
- There is a minimum registration requirement of Monday through Thursday. Fridays are optional. The four day minimum helps us maintain the same small groupings of students to reduce exposure.
Costs
- School day childcare continues to be free for Tier 1 Critical Workers.
- Before school and after school childcare is provided for a cost. Please see the Cost Schedule for more information.
- The Wayzata Kids before and after school program has a $40 registration fee. If you have already paid a registration fee for this school year, you will not be charged again. A registration fee is not charged for school day childcare.
Hours and Locations
- Wayzata Kids provides childcare from 7:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m.
- Free school day childcare hours align with the elementary school day.
- Childcare will be provided at all nine elementary schools.
Non-School Days
- Childcare will continue to be offered on the November 25th non-school day for a cost.
- Additional information will be shared about non-school days and registration.
Meals and Snacks
- Breakfast and lunch will be provided for free. You may also send a lunch from home.
- Students registered for after school childcare will receive a snack.
School Day Childcare Bus Transportation
- Transportation is provided for school day childcare (it is not available for before and after school care).
- Please indicate your need for bus transportation when re-registering.
Distance Learning Support
- Childcare staff will assist students with their technology, ensure they are joining all their scheduled live Zoom meetings, and provide general school work support.
- When not completing their school work, enrichment activities will be provided.
- Students will spend a majority of their day in their homeroom.
