From the Desk of Dr. G This week, we wanted to highlight three (of many) important processes we have in place to help keep you and your child safe. Thanks for any support you can provide.
Thanks for your partnership,
Did You Know? KICKS Meetings - October 30 and November 6 We are excited to partner with our 5th grade students to lead another meaningful year of service and leadership in our school, community, and beyond! Our first meeting will be Friday, October 30 at 8:00 a.m. and our second KICKS meeting will be Friday, November 6 at 8:00 a.m. Fifth graders will receive the zoom links for both meetings via their classroom teacher in the Week-At-A-Glance document. Please let us know if you have any questions. Your KICKS chairs, Kelly Hubert, Andrea Rabe, and Jessica Weldon.
Lost and Found Our lost and found is overflowing. Please take an inventory at home for any missing clothing, contact Kristen Smith to look for missing items for you. Please write your child's name on all winter-gear tags (e.g., gloves, hats, mittens, boots, jackets). You'd be surprised at how easily we can return lost items to kids if names are written on tags.

PTA News Meet Alawa! In recognition of surpassing $15,000 in Grizzly Dash donations, the Greenwood PTA is excited to announce the symbolic adoption of Alawa, the wolf!
Our PTA strives to find opportunities for our students to practice care and compassion. One way we've supported this mission in recent years is through symbolic animal adoptions. (You may remember Spirit, the grizzly bear, and Kiombo, the elephant.) In keeping with this legacy, the Greenwood PTA has adopted Alawa, one of the Ambassador wolves at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, NY.
Alawa (meaning "sweetpea" in Algonquin, and pronounced "ai-lay-ewa") and her brothers, Zephyr and Nikai, live on exhibit at the WCC to promote understanding and appreciation of wildlife conservation.
In the coming weeks, students will learn more about Alawa, wolves and conservation during their Media Center specialist time. Families can also watch our PTA social media pages for photos and updates.
Grizzly Dash Update: Thank you, Greenwood families! With your support, the Grizzly Dash – our only large-scale PTA fundraiser of the year - raised more than $15,000 for our school. Your generous donations help the PTA fund numerous purchases and programs that directly benefit every Greenwood student; however, we are still in need of additional funding in order to maintain all of our budgeted investments for this school year.
As a reminder, a donation of just $40 per student allows us to fund dozens of PTA-sponsored programs and initiatives that benefit every student – whether Hybrid or Distance Choice - meaning your contribution can really help make more happen at Greenwood!
If you missed the deadline to donate to the Grizzly Dash, we can still accept your donation directly via PayPal or Venmo.
Or, if you'd prefer to send a check or cash, please enclose your donation of any amount in an
Thank you again for supporting our school!

Around the District Distance Learning Meal Options Stay Home When Ill and Be Prepared to Quarantine If you or someone in your family is ill, please reference the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Decision Tree document to learn what your next steps should be. Report any student absences into Skyward Family Access, specifying if the absence is COVID-19 related. Our school nurses will follow up with any COVID-19 related cases. If you are tested for COVID-19, even if you feel well, it is important that you remain home and away from others until you receive the results. Everyone must be prepared to stay home and quarantine for up to two weeks if you become ill with or are exposed to COVID-19. We know being quarantined for two weeks will be extremely challenging, but it is absolutely necessary to stop the spread of the virus. Learn how you can prepare for a possible quarantine. Our nurses will be working closely with MDH to notify students and staff as soon as possible if you have been exposed to COVID-19 at school. Always answer your phone if MDH is calling. If you have questions, please contact the licensed nurse at your school. More detail and helpful information can also be found on our Wayzata Learns webpage.
