From the Principal Dear North Woods Families,
I know that Minnesotans shouldn't be surprised by the weather but I wasn't quite ready for the snow on Tuesday. Our Hybrid students wore appropriate gear this week and were able to enjoy playing outside during recess. Please label your child's outerwear this year. We are trying to limit the items that end up in lost and found. We will make an effort to return items to students in a timely manner but need your help with labeling items for an easy transaction.
Our Distance Choice learners will be having another materials pick up on Friday from 9:00-11:30. Our office staff really enjoys connecting with you and your family on these Fridays.
Please let us know how we can continue to support you.
With gratitude,
Jenny Berg

Did You Know? Important Zoom Information In order to maintain a safe and secure environment for all learners, it is imperative that when students are preparing to participate in a Zoom meeting, they are using their District-issued iPad, using the Zoom app, and logged in with their district username and password. During our Friday Fun with the specialist team last week, there were many unknown participants requesting to enter the meetings. Going forward, specialists will not be able to allow unknown participants into these Zoom meetings. If you are unsure of how to set up your child's iPad with Zoom, follow these instructions.
Technology Assistance To ensure the safety for all, we are requesting the following process be followed for all technology assistance:
Reminders Attendance Required Monday through Friday Zoom morning meetings are required when it is a distance day for your child. This is how your child's teacher is taking attendance. Your child will be counted absent if the teacher does not see them on Zoom at 7:45 a.m. during morning meeting. You will get an automated message if you didn't enter an absence in Skyward Family Access. If you call after the message, your child will be counted tardy. If your child is not able to engage in learning, please mark them "absent" in Skyward Family Access.

Material Pick Up Dates for Distance Choice We will be having material pick up for distance choice students on Fridays throughout the year. The dates are listed below for your information. The times for the pick up will be 9:00-11:30 a.m. on the dates listed below. Please use the lower parking lot and have your child's first and last name and grade on a piece of paper. Please return your child's plastic bag with their name on it. We will give you the current 2 weeks of materials from your child's teacher in a new bag and continue rotating these 2 bags throughout the year. Thank you for your cooperation!
A Message for Distance Choice Families from the Media Center Distance Choice students can request print books from the media center for curbside pick-up every Friday from 9:00-11:30 a.m. when school is in session. Books that are requested by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday of each week will be ready for the weekly pick-up on Friday. For the time being, students may request up to three books and two requests will be filled at a time. Please return checked out books when picking up your new books.

Volunteer Needs
Around the District Distance Learning Meal Options Stay Home When Ill and Be Prepared to Quarantine If you or someone in your family is ill, please reference the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Decision Tree document to learn what your next steps should be. Report any student absences into Skyward Family Access, specifying if the absence is COVID-19 related. Our school nurses will follow up with any COVID-19 related cases. If you are tested for COVID-19, even if you feel well, it is important that you remain home and away from others until you receive the results. Everyone must be prepared to stay home and quarantine for up to two weeks if you become ill with or are exposed to COVID-19. We know being quarantined for two weeks will be extremely challenging, but it is absolutely necessary to stop the spread of the virus. Learn how you can prepare for a possible quarantine. Our nurses will be working closely with MDH to notify students and staff as soon as possible if you have been exposed to COVID-19 at school. Always answer your phone if MDH is calling. If you have questions, please contact the licensed nurse at your school. More detail and helpful information can also be found on our Wayzata Learns webpage.
