Dear North Woods Families,
We are excited to announce the kick-off of the second Annual North Woods "Hustle and Howl" Fun Run! The Hustle and Howl will take place on Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13 during the school-day! Wayzata Distance Choice students will participate in a virtual Hustle and Howl on the same days.
What is the Hustle and Howl? The Hustle and Howl is the school's biggest fundraiser of the year. The hybrid students and teachers will make their way around the Hustle and Howl track. Wayzata Distance Choice students will have time scheduled within their school day to complete their run/walk at home. This event is all about school spirit, health/wellness, community, and raising money for our school in an exciting way. We are asking students to seek flat-dollar donations from sponsors for their participation in the Hustle and Howl. Because of the unique circumstances this school year, donations for the Hustle and Howl will be collected online only.
How does the Hustle and Howl help North Woods? This year our fundraising focus for the Hustle and Howl will be on an addition to the playground at North Woods, to be completed by Fall of 2021. Our school's fundraising goal for this year is $50,000. Instead of individual and class prizes, this year's prize is an improved playground experience for all to enjoy. Let's go!
How will the Hustle and Howl work this year? Every student will receive a Hustle and Howl t-shirt to wear on the day of the event! Wayzata Distance Choice students will receive their shirt in their bag during the next pick-up day on Friday, October 9. Hybrid A students will be participating on Monday, October 12 and Hybrid B students will be on Tuesday, October 13. Wayzata Distance Choice students will be participating during their school day. More specific information will come from your child's teacher. We will have a fun playlist made up of songs that have been suggested by our students. The music will be made available for hybrid and distance students. Please take a moment to fill out this Google Form to provide your student's favorite song.
How does my student collect donations? We are using an online fundraising system called PledgeStar. This makes it very easy to request donations from friends and family, even if they live out-of-town! Pledgestar allows supporters to make secure credit card donations online. Please have all donations in by Friday, October 16. The fundraising total will be announced on Monday, October 19. Follow the directions below to register your student on Pledgestar.
- Go to North Woods' Pledgestar webpage
- Click "Not Registered For This Year's Event"
- Enter your name and email address, then click "Submit"
- Follow the instructions on-screen to register students and enter contact information for family and friends.
When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends from your child, and allows them to make their donation online. You will receive notification each time a pledge is made. If you need help registering your student, you can call PledgeStar at 888-598-7510.
What can I do to get involved? Help your student brainstorm a list of family and friends to send a donation email to. You are your student's biggest cheerleader, encourage them to participate in the fundraising process and to have fun with this school event. Unfortunately, due to Minnesota Department of Health guidelines, we are not able to have spectators this year. However, we will share photos and videos of our hybrid and distance students after the event, be on the lookout for those via Twitter and Facebook!
Thank you for your support! Let's continue building a great future for North Woods! Go Wolves!
