A Note from Principal Farrington Greetings Birchview Families,
Hello October! The weather is turning, the leaves are changing, and our days are getting shorter. We are looking forward to all that's to come at Birchview. During the month of October, many schools across the nation celebrate National Bullying Prevention Month. We will do the same at our school and continue to work with our students to be kind, empathetic, inclusive, and caring at school and in our community.
Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up in a little over a week. Conferences will be on October 13 from 4-8 p.m. and October 14 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. You will have the opportunity to sign up for a twenty minute time slot with your child's classroom teacher. Specialist teachers will be available via zoom and those links will be shared with you. Our sign up will go live tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. and will remain open until Friday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m. (Please note this change from last week's newsletter). Please be sure to sign up for a conference with your child's teacher as soon as you can.
When thinking about conferences, begin thinking about things that are going well for your child and things that you would like to improve. Our teachers are still working to get to know your child and this information will be helpful as we move forward this school year. Also, we will take some time to set some goals and answer questions that you may have. We are looking forward to meeting with you virtually and collaborating to make the best plan for your child for the school year. More information about how to sign up will be shared with you tomorrow at 4 p.m.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday of learning and a relaxing weekend!
With sincere gratitude,
Mr. Farrington

Your child will see these staff members throughout the day at school and their role is to be another friendly face to support your child during the school day. Please reach out to any of the staff members below if there is anything that we can do to help.

Medications at School All medications, both prescribed and Over-The-Counter (OTC), administered at school requires a medical order from a person who is a licensed authorized prescribing practitioner (physician, physician's assistant, dentist, podiatrist, osteopath or psychiatrist). Please contact your school health office about medication drop off before the start of school. For more information, visit our Health Services webpage.
Emergency Contact Information It is very important that we have accurate emergency contact information for each parent/guardian. Please take a moment to verify and update your family information in Skyward Family Access.
Birthday Book Program Our popular birthday book program will be back this year. This program helps grow our library collection while formally commemorating a special day in the lives of our students.
PTA News Bobcat Fun Run Update The Bobat Fun Run is one of our favorite Birchview events as well as our only major fundraiser. The success of our Fun Run provides so many fabulous opportunities at Birchview, from the naturalist and field trips to playground equipment and books for the classrooms and library. In order to put on the best event possible, the PTA board has decided to postpone this year's Fun Run until later in the year. We want every student to have the opportunity to participate, whether hybrid or distance learning, so we ask for your patience and support as we put together a fun, inclusive event!
Join the PTA We'd love for you to join the PTA! Meet new friends, get involved with school events, get to know the staff, and be in-the-know about Birchview happenings. Your dues help support the state and national organizations as well as the Birchview PTA. Our next meeting is October 12 at 10:45 a.m. Watch this newsletter for the Zoom link.
Student Directory Our free PTA student directory is a great resource for all families when organizing events, planning play dates, and staying in touch. Families must sign up each school year to be included in the directory. Please complete the form and return to the office to be included in this helpful resource.
