Welcome to East East Middle School Families, Teachers have been in the classroom this past week. The energy is fantastic. We continue to refine our details for the opening of school on September 14th. We would like to share a few procedural items for the coming year.
Virtual Family Visits Next week, your child's advisory teacher will reach out to you to schedule a brief 5-15 minute phone or Zoom meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to provide a meet and greet opportunity before school begins. We hope you and your students will join the teacher in a discussion about what school will be like for the coming year. Be on the lookout for this communication so you can arrange for a meeting.
Curriculum Orientation Update Also next week, you will receive a link to our virtual Curriculum Orientation. It will include video messages from principals and teachers. Text descriptions related to the coursework will be included. Click as many times as you like on the sections that interest you, skip the rest! This virtual activity is a replacement for our traditional Open House, Curriculum Night, and Orientations hosted in September. Contact the Student Services Team or a teacher with your questions.
Student Schedules will go live in Skyward by September 8. Due to class size limitations and our need to keep students and staff safe, we cannot honor any requests made to change teams or classes unless a student was assigned the wrong class.
Generally speaking, the school supply list posted on the website is the best guide for getting ready this school year. However, since students will be using backpacks, not lockers, we want them to be comfortable by traveling light. Musical instruments should be kept at home and most textbooks are digital. Here are the everyday essentials:
More information will be coming for families who have chosen Distance Choice about the supplies they will need.
Early Drop-Off While students are encouraged to ride the bus to school, early drop-off is available at 7:45 a.m. If early drop off is necessary, students must be dropped off at Door 3 and report to the cafeteria after a temperature check. Students will sit socially distanced and masked until they are released at 8:50 a.m. to go to their advisory classroom. Classes begin at 9:10 a.m.
After School Students are expected to leave the school at 4:00 p.m. each day. No late buses are available. Bus passes will not be provided this year, no exceptions. If your student needs to go home with a classmate, please make other arrangements. Our buses have limited capacity due to social distancing guidelines. Some fall sports are happening but families must arrange for transportation home.
