A Note from Principal Keffeler
Hello Meadow Ridge Families,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude for your patience, understanding, and flexibility. We are committed to making this a successful year for you and your child.
As we begin our fifth year, the word that comes to my mind is community. We are a community—families and staff. And, in order to have a successful year, we will need to be a community like we haven't been before. Some students will be here at school, and some will be learning from home. We are still a community. We need to look out for our own families, and our community. We need to trust each other to make wise choices for the greater good. It will take all of us to keep our community going and our hybrid students in school.
The District has solid plans in place. There are procedures for everything. We are fortunate to have had Wayzata Kids in our buildings this summer, and they created practices that kept them safe throughout the summer. From entering the building, to specialists coming into classrooms, to lunch and recess in a socially distanced environment, to dismissing for the ride home, we have thought everything through. Our Distance Choice Option families will have their own procedures as well, including days for materials exchange. Our staff is on board and ready to lead the community. We are looking forward to seeing all of you at our virtual open houses, and welcoming our hybrid Kindergarten students in person.
Whether your child is Distance Choice Option or Hybrid, here's what a typical day will look like. Teachers will explain in depth during the virtual Open House.
Here are important dates to keep in mind
September 1: Classroom assignments on Skyward Family Access. Due to the complexity of creating balanced classes which meet our capacity requirements, please refrain from requesting changes to these schedules and placements.
September 2: Kindergarten Open House
September 9-10: Virtual Open House dates for grades 1-5 (You will receive details from your child's grade level)
September 10-11: Materials pick-up for Distance Choice Option families
September 14: First day of school for group A, iPads will be distributed
September 15: First day of school for group B, iPads will be distributed.
We are expecting very high volumes of parents who will be driving their children to/from school. We are refining our drop off and pick up procedure to make it efficient, and we expect we will need to amend our initial plan after experiencing it for a few days. We will send out the plans to parents the week of September 8. Carpooling is encouraged.
Welcome to new teachers
First grade: Sydney Hayden, Sara Johnson, and Jessica Christner
Fourth grade: Naomi Langer and Maggie Blau
Special Services: Rebecca Lauer and Erin Hines
Reading Intervention: Ann Carlson
Bus Information
Your child's busing information will be mailed and emailed to all families during the week of August 31. To ensure that your child is assigned to the correct bus and stop, your correct address must be on file with the Welcome Center. Please double check your address in Skyward Family Access if your family has moved over the summer or is new to the district. If an address change needs to be made, please call our Welcome Center at 763-745-5240.
