Did You Know?

Intramural Activities Open for Registration: 

  • 6th Grade Track & Field, an Intramural Activity for 6th graders, starts September 18. 
  • Math League will begin on October 1. Limited space is available and going fast.
  • Science Bowl will begin October 10.  Limited space is available.
  • Chess and Strategic Games will begin on October 3. Limited space available.
  • Bullet Journal Club begins October 8.
  • Lego League will begin October 2.
  • Select Choir auditions are taking place this week for 7th-8th graders. 8:15-9:00 a.m. and after school.  Students can sign up for an audition spot outside the choir room. No registration until auditions are complete.

Registration forms are available in the front office. Please only register for activities that are open for registration.  

 

Athletics

Girls' 7-8 Grade Volleyball and Tennis are open for registration through September 21. Practice starts September 5. Visit the Activities and Athletics page for more information.

 

Canvas

If you need assistance logging into Canvas, please know that there is a 24-hour sync from Skyward. If you have recently changed your Skyward Family Access password, you will need to wait a full 24-hours to use those credentials to log in to Canvas through the Canvas Parent App or a web browser. The sync does not take place on the weekend. If you continue to have questions, please contact the Technology Department at 763-745-5100 or email helpdesk@wayzataschools.org.

 

Reminders

Legislative Candidate Forum: Addressing Education

Parents, community members and staff are invited to attend the 2018 Legislative Candidate Forum set for Tuesday, October 2, 6:30-8 p.m., in the Central Middle School Auditorium at 305 Vicksburg Lane in Plymouth. All candidates from House Districts 33A, 34B, 44A, 44B and 46A have been invited to participate in the forum. The forum will consist of a time for attendees to hear from all candidates as well an opportunity to interact with candidates from their specific House district. The forum, sponsored by the Wayzata Public Schools Legislative Action Committee (LAC), is an opportunity for voters to learn more about legislative candidates prior to Election Day on Tuesday, November 6. All questions will focus on issues that affect public education.

Attendance

Attendance and early dismissals can now be entered in Skyward Family Access   As in the past, you  may still send a note with your student to turn in to the front office in the morning, or call the attendance line at 763-745-6055.

Box Tops for Education

Box Tops for Education is a school earnings program that helps schools to buy the things they need. Box Tops are worth 10¢ each and they are found on hundreds of products. Please cut out your Box Tops and check expiration dates. Our next submission date is the end of October. There is a Box Top box in the Front Office.

Fall Fundraiser

The Donate Your Way Campaign runs now until September 21.  This is the final week to order.  Students are selling Heggies Pizza for incentives or families can make a monetary donation. Mail or drop off forms in the front office. Our goal is to raise $15,000. Proceeds of this fundraiser go towards teacher grants, staff conference meals, service projects, student recognition breakfasts, 6th grade planners, 8th grade celebration and more!

Next PTA Meeting

Please join us for our next PTA Meeting, Tuesday, October 9 at 11:30 a.m. in room A406.  Our guest speaker will be Chace Anderson, Superintendent of Wayzata Public Schools. 

 

Volunteer Needs

7th Grade Parent Volunteers

Parents are needed for the Arboretum Field Exploring Minnesota Life Science field trips on October 4 (Blue and Gold teams), and October 5 (Green and Silver). Please contact Michelle Ross at michelle_ross@comcast.net.

Open Board Positions

The PTA has several open Board opportunities. If you are able to volunteer, please contact Suzanne Hoagland at smhoagland@mac.com.

  • Vice-President: Work with other board members to support the mission of the PTA.  Assist the President in oversight of programs and committees.
  • Conference Meal Chairperson(s): Plan and coordinate feeding our amazing teachers at parent-teacher conferences in the Fall and Spring.  Use a combination of PTA funds and volunteers to build a meal for these champions. 
  • PTA Treasurer In-Training: Interested in being next year's PTA Treasurer? Work with our veteran treasurer this year to learn the ropes.
  • Events Concessions Chair: Plan and organize both volunteer and donations for treats to sell at 2 special events, including Movie Night. Events typically happen in winter and spring.
 
Community Education

Destination ImagiNation Information Night for parents and Team Managers is Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 6:30-7:30 at Central Middle School. Visit www.wayzatadi.org for more information on D.I.
