George Floyd Reflection

The counselors and social workers from Wayzata High School are heartbroken by the killing of George Floyd. We stand with you. We are sorry. We are listening. And we have work to do.

We are recommitting ourselves to the work of speaking out against systemic racism and injustice by facilitating change through: one-on-one student support, counseling seminars, as well as school-wide advocacy. We are developing actionable items for going forward, and are collaborating with departments at the district and site levels on our next steps to improve our services; at the core of this is listening to students and families of color. This commitment and work will continue into this school year and beyond. Additionally, the district is sending communication with various resources for navigating conversations about race and racism, as well as community supports.
