Dear WPS Staff,
Wayzata Public Schools is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all our staff, students, and families. To ensure that, we have developed the following Summer Building Access Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and our desire to establish a safe work environment as we slowly return to our work sites. It is only through this consistent alignment of our efforts that we can establish and maintain the safety and health of our staff and students.
As a very important reminder, an employee who experiences fever and/or respiratory symptoms while home should not report to work. Instead, the employee should contact his or her immediate supervisor for further direction. Staying home when sick.
Please note that only certain doors will be available for you to enter. If a building does not have a designated entry, it is closed.
Doors to Enter Do not enter open buildings unless you are listed as below or on the essential employee list.
Screening Procedures Prior to reporting to work, staff are to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. If they exhibit any of these symptoms or feel ill, they should stay home. Every employee will be screened, including having his or her temperature taken, when reporting to work. Employees should be screened upon arrival at work and prior to entering any other areas of Wayzata Public School property. Please note, Wayzata Kids childcare staff will follow this set of screening procedures.
Time spent waiting for the health screening should be recorded as time worked for non-exempt (hourly) employees.
Each employee will be screened using a touchless thermometer. The following determinations will be made.
An employee who has a fever at or above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or who is experiencing coughing, shortness of breath or any other symptoms of COVID-19 will be sent home. The employee should monitor their symptoms and call a doctor or use telemedicine if concerned about their symptoms.
If you are on the district health insurance, there are online care/telemedicine options. Login to your account to find online providers by network using our provider search. PreferredOne offers online care, any time of day, through these PreferredOne providers:
An employee sent home can return to work following the guidelines as listed on the MDH COVID Exclusion Decision Tree.
An employee absent due to a coronavirus related illness should contact Laura Hoffman Hordyk or Leslie Myrin to determine if they qualify for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
Masks: Staff will also be required to wear cloth masks when present on school grounds. Further information and maintain social distancing. It may be necessary for employees to provide their own masks until the District can secure cloth masks for our employees.
Social Distancing: All employees must maintain 6 feet of space between themselves and others as much as possible. (Passing by others may be unavoidable.)
Each department may have additional information communicated to them regarding specific expectations related to their unique job expectations.
