Curbside Pick-up/Drop-off of Student Materials East Middle School Families, In alignment with recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health, we will be utilizing a curbside pickup model for student materials left in lockers (hallway and PE) and for other items left at school. This is also the opportunity to drop off items that need to be returned to the school. No parents or students will be allowed to enter the school building until next fall (or until further notice). Student materials will be put in labeled bags by EMS staff and will be distributed from the Cafeteria Entrance (door 3). Please review the information below carefully so that you are prepared for curbside pickup. Curbside Pick-up/Drop-off Times Please come during one of your two possible pick-up/drop-off times. This is essential to ensure we get through pickups in a timely manner. Times are based on the first letter of the student's last name: Wednesday, May 27 A-C– 8:00-9:00 a.m. D-G – 10:00-11:00 a.m. H-K – 12:00-1:00 p.m. L-M – 2:00-3:00 p.m. N-R – 4:00-5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28 S-Z – 8:00-9:00 a.m. A-C – 10:00-11:00 a.m. D-G – 12:00-1:00 p.m. H-K – 2:00-3:00 p.m. L-M – 4:00-5:00 p.m. Friday, May 29 N-R – 8:00-9:00 a.m. S-Z – 10:00-11:00 a.m. Curbside Pick-up/Drop-off Process for Families Please read the following instructions carefully: - Locate any materials at home that need to be returned to the school before summer (textbooks and media center materials, athletic uniforms, books from teachers, art supplies, etc.). We are not collecting iPads (students moving out of the district will receive a separate communication). Bring the items that need to be returned with you as we will have a curbside collection for these materials.
- Write your student's name (last, first) and grade on a piece of paper. This will need to be displayed in your passenger side window when you get to EMS.
- Drive to the cafeteria door (door 3) during your pickup window of time. It is important you come during one of your two time/date options to ensure we can spread out the process and keep cars moving through the line.
- If you have materials to return, hand them out the window/door to a staff member.
- Open a door/trunk where you would like items to be placed (if you can stay in your car to do this, great!).
- Staff members will collect your items and place them in your trunk/vehicle. They can also close the door/trunk at your request.
Things to be aware of: - Thank you for being prepared and for following the procedures for curbside pick-up/drop-off. They are designed to keep lines moving and limit the potential spread of germs.
- If your student has materials in another student's locker, know that they will be distributed according to the lockers assigned by the school. It will be up to individual students and families to recover their materials from friends in these instances.
- School materials found in lockers that need to be turned in (media center books, textbooks, novels, etc.) will be kept.
- There are a number of student projects (tech ed, art, etc.) that are not easy to identify the owner and manage during curbside pick-up/drop-off. Many of these items will be distributed when we are back in school. Because 8th graders will not be returning to EMS next year, we will do our best to sort out and distribute their projects during the curbside pick-up/drop-off.
- Yearbooks have been delayed from the printing company. We will notify families when they are ready for distribution and will communicate that process in a separate message.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this unique set of circumstances. Know that while we are collecting materials and distributing student belongings before the end of the school year, students will still have distance learning obligations through the end of the year (last day of school is June 4). Assignments and tasks in the last few days of distance learning will likely look different, as they will include some end-of-the-year virtual celebrations. 12000 Ridgemount Avenue, Plymouth, MN 55441 | 763-745-6200 |
