End-of-Year Information and Curbside Pick-Up Plan It's time to pick up your belongings. In alignment with recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health, we will utilize a curbside pick-up model for student materials left in lockers (hallway and PE) and medications left at school. Yearbooks, if ordered, will be included. All materials will be put in labeled plastic bags by CMS staff and distributed in the main entrance parking lot (drive into the bus loop, there will be signs). No parents or students will be allowed to enter the school. School-owned materials should be dropped off during this time. Hold onto your iPad if you are returning to Wayzata Public Schools. Please review the information below carefully so that you are prepared for curbside pick-up. Curbside Pick-Up Process for Families: - Locate any materials at home that need to be returned to the school (textbooks, novels, and Media Center materials). Teachers may email individual students with additional items they need to turn in due to specific circumstances. Bring these to the school.
- Write your student's name (last, first) and grade in large print on a piece of paper. Display it in your passenger side window when you get to CMS.
- Enter campus using the bus loop driveway closest to the auditorium during your assigned time window. Again, it is important that you come during the time/date listed above so we can spread out the process and keep cars moving through the line.
- Stay in your car and open a door or pop the trunk.
- If you have materials to return, please have them in your trunk when you arrive. Pop your trunk and staff will take the materials out. Then proceed to the pick-up area.
- Staff members will place your materials in your trunk/car and will close it for you.
Things to be aware of: - If your student has materials in another student's locker, know that they will be distributed by the school assigned lockers. It will be up to individual students and families to recover their materials from friends in these circumstances.
- There may be some unfinished school projects/items that are not easy to distribute during curbside pickup. These items will be distributed when we are back in school.
- While we are taking preventative measures (cleaning hands, wearing gloves, etc.) to limit the spread of germs on student belongings, families may choose to wait for a period of time before bringing the bagged materials into their home.
- Yearbooks will be added to your student's bags. If you have not ordered a yearbook and would like to do so, we have a limited number available and you can purchase one in EPay for $35. Order by Friday, May 22 at noon and we will get a yearbook to you while supplies last.
- If you don't wish to pick up your child's belongings, we will hold their bag into the fall. The building will be closed this summer so no special pick up arrangements will be made until school is back up and running in September. Eventually, we will dispose of unclaimed bags.
Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this unique set of circumstances. Know that while we are collecting some materials and distributing student belongings before the end of the school year, students will continue to have distance learning obligations through our last day of school on June 4.
