Dear Wayzata High School Community,
I was reminded recently how this time in our life will be forever etched in our memories, similar to 9/11 and other significant and memorable historical events. Last week, I wrote about hope, maintaining a positive mindset, collaborating, supporting and lifting the spirits of those around you. I would like to continue with those sentiments today.
As you know, many events and milestones that most often make-up our high school memories have been taken away by COVID-19. While it is understandable and natural to dwell on these missed opportunities, be confident that our school community is strong. If this memory is here to stay, then let's own it together and make the end of the school year memorable for what it was, rather than what it wasn't.
We have 20 days remaining to create successful stories and fond memories from this incredibly challenging situation. I recently asked our teachers how they wanted to be remembered by the students in their 4th term classes- some of whom they may have never met beyond Zoom. I ask this same question of our entire school community- what do we want etched in our memory as we think back to this time many years from now?
Please continue to support and lift the people around you. I encourage you to create stories that will be treasured many years from now in spite of our current reality and lost events. Together, we will succeed in overcoming this challenge. Again, thank you for embracing this opportunity with me!
On that note, Class of 2020, please enjoy a short video that our teachers and I recently created for you. I hope it serves as a reminder that you are incredibly valued and appreciated. I hope this video will bring a smile, a positive memory, and a feeling of satisfaction that our teachers truly love you, miss you and care about you. I apologize for any issues you experienced in trying to access the video through my previous message; it was so popular we hit limitations through Google Drive. Enjoy!
