Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8 is National Teacher Appreciation Week! Help us shower our teachers and Oakwood staff with appreciation by sending them notes using your email or eLearning platform. Take a picture with a sign, make a short video, write them an extra special note, etc. to show them how much you appreciate them and all their hard work. We love our Oakwood Staff!
Carnival Update For any students that have not had their raffle event yet (lunch with kindergarten teachers, movie with 1st grade teachers, lunch with Principal deNeui, announcements with Ms. Trish, media specialist for the day, PE teacher for the day): you have not been forgotten. As our schedule becomes more clear, we will reschedule your special events. Please reach out if you have any questions at erin.bequette@gmail.com.
Open PTA Board Positions It is a requirement for the PTA to rotate board members every two years and this year marks the end of our tenure on the board. However, given the current stay at home order we have not been able to adequately recruit new candidates and candidates have not presented themselves for consideration. We are also not able to meet for a vote. The board is prepared to hold our positions into next school year but we do ask that you reach out if you would like to consider one of these positions; otherwise, we will wait to make decisions until we can come together in person. Please send questions or inquiries to president@oakwoodpta.org.
How to Earn? Box Tops Makes it Easy! No more clipping. No more dropping Box Tops in the bucket. All you need is your phone. Download the Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit Oakwood's Box Tops earnings online. Twice a year, Oakwood will receive a check!
Oakwood Family Directory As a reminder, all Oakwood families need to create an account and input family information to be included in the directory. You will not be able to access friends in the directory without creating an account and setting up your family profile. Get started at Membership Toolkit.

Around the District Mindful Kids: Managing Stress During Hard Times Being stuck at home and away from school and friends is difficult for many kids and teens. Relate Counseling Center is offering online Mindfulness and Stress Reduction groups to students ages 7-11 to manage emotions during COVID-19. Groups will incorporate discussion around feelings about the current pandemic as well as provide tangible tools to help manage stress and anxiety. Kids will also engage in movement and relaxation strategies throughout group. The cost is $10 per week and meets Tuesdays from 1:00-1:30 p.m. Participants can register for individual weeks or the full eight weeks. Contact Kelly Smith, LGSW at knsmith@relatemn.org for more information. Wayzata Education Fund’s Thank a Teacher Program We have the best teachers and staff around, and never has it been clearer than during these unprecedented times. Whether they’ve helped make a difference in person or virtually this year, show your appreciation by participating in our Thank a Teacher program. From May 4 to June 3, any donation you make to the Wayzata Education Fund honoring a teacher or staff will come with a certificate of appreciation from your student. Additionally, if you donate $25 or more, they will also receive a bundlet from Nothing Bundt Cakes Minnetonka. Say thank you and support a good cause at the same time! Certificates will be sent via email. Bundlets will be delivered at a later date when it is deemed safe to do so, and when teachers and staff are back on school property. What can I do to protect myself and others?
