Update from Principal Gengler: April 24, 2020 Dear Wayzata High School Community,
First, let me begin by saying, thank you. The saying, "It takes a villageā¦" couldn't be more true and is being demonstrated each and every day as we tackle this challenging experience together. As you now know from Superintendent Anderson's email, we will be continuing distance learning through the remainder of the school year and many of our spring events have been officially cancelled, postponed, or will be moving to virtual celebrations.
We also learned that Friday, May 1 and Monday, May 4, are declared as "prep days" for teachers to prepare for the conclusion of the school year in our distance learning model. Please be reminded that these two days are mandated by the Governor as "non-student days." Assuming that many of our teachers are already prepared, I am hoping we can all benefit from these two days, with a much deserved and needed break. Let's hope for really great weather!
I was hoping to share a short video message with all of you today, but after many attempts, I simply cannot get through it without falling apart. I feel so badly for our students, especially our seniors and their families. I was reminded recently through all of the disappointment our students, staff, and families must be feeling right now, it is collectively on all of us to keep doing our best to maintain a positive mindset and to try and be the example for others to follow. If we are truly in this together, then we must own it together. We need to be present for each other now more than ever before.
With Gratitude, |
