Seminar Notes PreACT and PreACT 8/9 WHS administered the PreACT (Grade 10) and PreACT 8/9 (Grade 9) on February 25, 2020. Student scores are now available in Skyward through Family Access. Individual student reports will be mailed to families once staff can access the school building.

Parents and students can get information about all the tests administer in the district at the WPS Research and Evaluation website.
Sophomore + Freshman Seminars Students were notified yesterday, April 15, that the Term 4 Sophomore and Freshman Seminars are now accessible on Canvas. Students can access their Seminar through their Counseling Seminar Canvas page under the 'Term 4' tab of the 'Seminar' section. Seminars must be accessed through a web browser, not the Canvas App.
With a focus on the PreACT 8/9 and PreACT, all freshmen and sophomores will view a presentation to learn how to understand and interpret their score report. They will also have the opportunity to complete a survey to offer feedback on Seminars and counseling services.
Freshman will also complete the MCIS Interest Profiler Short Form activity to help identify interests and match them with a wide variety of careers.
Junior Seminar The Term 4 Junior Seminar is still accessible on Canvas, under the "Seminars --> Term 4" section of the Counselor Seminar Canvas page. Learn more about planning for senior year, the college application process, letters of recommendation, next steps for military, the workforce and more! Students also have the opportunity to complete a survey to offer feedback on Seminars and counseling services. Seminar must be accessed through a web browser, not the Canvas App.
Counseling Tips Social + Emotional Virtual Calming Room Our WHS counseling team has developed a Virtual Calming Room for students! Life can be overwhelming. Sometimes it can be hard to figure out how to work through difficult times. The Virtual Calming Room was designed to assist students in locating different strategies and tools for managing their emotions. We hope these tools will provide helpful outlets and practices for when life gets tough. The Virtual Calming Room can be accessed via student iPads or any web browser.

Academic Term 4 has begun- Start off the final term of the year strong! Be proactive in communicating with your teachers if you are facing technology issues with distance learning.
Post-Secondary Strive Virtual College Exploration Week: April 20 to April 23 Strive Virtual is a great opportunity to learn about various colleges and complete post high school planning online.
You must register for the panels you are interested in attending.
Insight on College Admissions during COVID 19: The counselors have received messaging similar to the following from colleges and universities across the country reassuring students they understand the concerns around college admissions moving forward: The outbreak is changing how schools teach and students learn all around the world. These changes will have lasting effects on schools and students academic records, standardized testing, and extracurricular activities. We want to reassure you that these changes will not negatively impact a students chance at admission to colleges around the nation for current and future applicants.

Resource Highlight Trades Hub The trades and manufacturing industries offer viable, valuable, and fulfilling career paths, and the Trades Hub is here to educate students on career opportunities to get into these fields.
New virtual tours are available for students to see college campuses and businesses relating to careers in the trades field. Additionally, the Trades Hub provides scholarship and job boards for students to access local opportunities!
College and Career Center (CCC) Updates Declaration Day Virtual Cake Day is coming! Transcripts + PSEO Applications If you are a current student in need of a transcript, fill out this Transcript Request Form and send it to Terri Marr to be processed. Similarly, if you need a Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) Application completed, fill out this MDE PSEO Form and send it to Terri Marr. No fees are required at this time.
