Meadow Ridge's new Ga Ga Pit

Note from Principal Keffeler

Hello Meadow Ridge Families,

We have many upcoming informational opportunities for you to learn more about Meadow Ridge. Information Night for grades 1-3 is tonight, with the first session starting at 6:00 p.m., and the second session starting at 6:30pm. Kindergarten Information Night is Monday, September 17, also at 6:00 p.m.

Dr. Chace Anderson will be at our first PTO meeting on Tuesday, September 18 at 9:00 a.m. in the media center. He will talk about district happenings and answer any questions you may have.

Our Cardinal Crush fundraiser kicked off today with an assembly in the gym. We are super excited about the incentives we have for meeting our goal of $55,000! The best part of this fundraiser is that 100% of your donation goes for Meadow Ridge. The next best part is the actual fun run on Friday, September 28. Whether a student raises $5 or $500, the same amount of fun will be had by all. Thank you so much for your generosity in the past, and we hope you and yours will consider a donation to this major fundraiser.

Tomorrow we say good bye to Courtney Christen, our secretary. She has been a bright sun in the office, and we wish her the best as she takes a leave of absence to be home with her young son. Nancy Barrett will assume her duties, and we welcome Carrie Freeman to the position of office paraprofessional.

Enjoy the weather,

Karen

Did You Know?

Our lost and found is already full! Please take a look at these pictures, and if there is an item that looks familiar, please put a reminder in your child's planner (or email their teacher) for them to retrieve the items. We love to find names in garments, and will show those items on the daily news so they can be returned right away.

New School Year, New and Improved Meals Program!

Just as our school is working to make sure students receive the best education possible, our district's Culinary Express program is making changes to provide students and staff with healthy and tasty nutritional options to better support learning. Changes, which were made in response to parent feedback last spring and will not affect the price of school meals, include:

  • Reducing artificial colors, high fructose corn syrup, artificial preservatives and bleached flour.
  • Serving more whole grains and less sugar.  This includes reducing the frequency of when we offer chocolate milk and juice.
  • Partnering with a local food hub to emphasize local foods and increase student and parent education about nutrition in fun ways.

Please watch for more information from Culinary Express about these exciting changes and encourage your students to try the new, fun and healthy foods being offered this school year.

Reminders

The deadline to sign up for the directory is Friday, September 14! Only students who have submitted information will be included in the directory. Contact Natalie Larson with questions. You will need to fill out a form for each child.

Cardinal Crush Friday, September 28

Time to get excited about the 3rd annual Cardinal Crush fun run! Detailed information will be sent home today.  This year we are able to accept credit card donations which will help in seeking pledges from out-of-town family! If we meet our school goal of $55,000, we will donate $10,000 to the new elementary school's PTO.  We hope each family will consider making a donation.  You are invited to come cheer your child on at the fun run! Thanks for your support.
