The Governor has shared additional expectations for Culinary Express (hourly) employees as we work to continue providing nutritious meals to our students during this period of distance learning. In order to remain in compliance with our Governor's expectations, we will be implementing a process in which staff will be expected to return to work.
As the District's Culinary Express team, you are tasked with the job of ensuring our children still have access to nutritious breakfasts and lunches. Your contributions are extremely important and words cannot express how much your efforts are appreciated. Please know that we recognize the sacrifices you are making and encourage you to do everything you can to take care of yourself.
Please remember the following:
- Make sure to wash your hands frequently, cover your cough, and refrain from touching your face. These are the best defenses against the spread of COVID-19.
- Please do not report to work if you are exhibiting any of the following symptoms. When to stay home.

- Work Expectations for Culinary Express staff: Culinary Express staff will be expected to report to work on all scheduled days.
- Staff will be split into four groups. Each group will be assigned days to report to Central Middle School for food distribution or preparation.
- Staff will be expected to punch in and punch out.
- Specific professional development assignments will be shared in a follow-up email from Michelle Sagedahl.
- Use of Leave Time: If you cannot work your scheduled hours, you must use your accumulated leave.
- Staff must report absences into True Time.
- Staff not reporting to work, will be rescheduled for the following reporting week.
- Culinary Express staff will continue to be rescheduled until school resumes.
- Accumulated leave includes personal and/or sick days.
- If all accumulated leave is exhausted, then unpaid leave will be used.
- Unpaid leave may impact out-of-pocket insurance costs.
- If you are unable to report to your assigned date at Central Middle School or plan on using planned time off, please reach out ASAP so we are able to plan accordingly. Reminder that the contract states that 10 days notice must be given for planned time off. All requests need to be made to Michelle Sagedahl.
- Pay and Benefits: All Culinary Express staff will be paid their regularly-scheduled hours for the month of April. All benefits currently in place will continue barring any exceptions or extenuating circumstances.
- Underlying Health Conditions: If Culinary Express staff have completed the Underlying Health Conditions form, they will be expected to complete work expectations from home. Starting April 1, new requests for underlying health accommodations will require a doctor's note.
- Important Reminders:
- Check your emails daily. All work expectations and changes will be communicated by email.
- Review your work assignments.
- Technology will not be provided.
- Please develop plans for childcare.
Culinary Express for the week of April 6 - 10:
- Scheduled Culinary Express staff will be expected to report to work. (Work schedule will be sent via email.)
- All employees working the nutritional service program are considered essential employees and are allowed to report to work during the time period of the Governor's shelter in place directive.
- Staff not scheduled to report to work will be expected to complete professional development from home.
- Professional development opportunities will be shared with you in a follow-up email.
- Professional development hours should be completed by 5 p.m. on April 10.
