An Update from Superintendent Chace Anderson Dear WPS Families,
I know that your personal and professional lives continue to be disrupted by the coronavirus and that school is just one consideration for families during these unprecedented times. We are all affected in unique, yet equally challenging ways. Your cooperation and understanding during these recent weeks have been greatly appreciated.
Our staff has been working diligently to prepare for the transition from traditional school to a distance learning delivery model. This task would have been impossible without your support. I have heard several heart-warming stories about parent-teacher-para engagement while students have been away from school and their normal routines.
Our teachers and other staff have been immersed in their work to get ready for the launch of our distance learning plan on April 6. At the current time, we are unsure about any projected end date for distance learning. Of course, we all hope that students will return to school during this school year. The reality is, we don't know at this time how this school year might evolve. I anticipate that we will learn more this week and will send updates to you as we receive further guidance from the Governor and/or State agencies. We will do our best to offer optional extended learning opportunities for students during this planning period. I know many of our teachers and principals have already shared these activities, and more information can be found on the District website.
As we get closer to launching our distance learning plan on April 6, additional communication will be sent to you. Your child's teacher(s), principal and school support staff members will serve as the primary points of contact. I want to emphasize that even though school will not look or feel the same as it has in the past, our level of commitment to each and every student in this district will not change. We are committed to providing a high-quality learning experience for our students even while students are away from school.
As we enter this new distance learning era, there will no doubt be glitches, but we will work together to address them. I am very confident in the talents and abilities of our teachers and other staff and know that they are fully committed to working in partnership with you on behalf of your students. Please visit the District website and continue to watch email communication for all of the latest updates. Again, many thanks for your continued patience, your understanding and your support of our teachers, staff members and our school district.
Take care and be well,
Chace B. Anderson Superintendent |
