Dear Families,
I'm reaching out about two upcoming family events scheduled for Birchview.
First, please know that our primary concern is for the health and safety of our students, staff and community. The District has been closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 and is in regular contact with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
We are following the suggestions for schools from the CDC, MDH and MDE, and making adjustments as needed. As of 9:04 this morning, events like Friday's Movie Night are continuing at schools across the district, but we are ready to make changes at the 11th hour if that is what is recommended.
We will be watching Toy Story 4. We hope to see many families at this event. However, if families are uncomfortable with coming to a school event, then they should stay home. Just like they may not be comfortable going to Target, a place of worship, a play, or concert. As you know, the way school works, children are in groups of 50+ by design -- the bus ride to and from school, lunch, and recess.
As a precautionary measure, we will be postponing the Cultural Potluck that is scheduled for next Thursday, March 19. The sharing of homemade food may offer a risk that many families may not be willing to take at this point in time. Since we want this event to be a success with attendance from many families, we feel it is best to wait and find another time to offer this exciting event.
We will continue to share updates as they become available.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Warmly, Mr. Fredrickson |
